Infrastructural Facilities - IIE Pune

Indian Institute of Education  is located in a Kothrud  area of Pune City in the state of Maharshtra. The IIE campus and buildings, designed by architect Abhay B. Sharma & Vijay V. Ghotge, Architects United, Pune. The Corner Stone of IIE campus was laid by Hon. Sadiq Ali, Former Governor of Maharashatra on November 15, 1978. It is also a green campus with the memorial of the Founders of the Institute. Residential accommodation in the campus consists of quarters for faculty and staff, hostel for students (both women and men), a guesthouse and a canteen. IIE promotes a healthy lifestyle and fosters close interaction with the families of staff members living in the campus.

Library

About the Library

The IIE library was established in the year 1977 and it was named after the institute’s former Chairman Shri. N.P. Samant.. It is housed in a spacious area within the campus, measuring to 1750 sq. ft. It has a major collection of books on social sciences particularly on Education.

Library Timings

The library remains open on all working days between 10.00 am to 5.45 pm. It remains closed on second and fourth Saturdays of every month and on all Sundays and public holidays.

The library offers Lending Library Facilities, Reference service, Photocopying.

Collections

The library has a rich collection of over 30000 publications including books, bound volumes, periodicals, reports, government documents related to social sciences. It has a major collection of books on education. Library also possesses Govt. of Maharashtra Gazettes. Rare collection of books and articles written by eminent educationist, Evan Ellich and Prof. J.P. Naik are among the pride possessions of the library. The reference section of this library consists of Indian and international encyclopedias and dictionaries of social sciences, psychology, education, religion, philosophy, census reports and yearbooks. It also possesses theses and dissertations. The library is widely used by students, research scholars and teaching staff from various institutions and even staff from different NGOs.
